Pilates

This mat-based class enhances the fundamental principles of Pilates (breath, concentration, control, precision, centre and flow) promoting mobility and strength of full body.

Chair Based Yoga

This is not your stereotypical chair-based activity class, this is chair yoga! The chair is used as a tool to enhance different yoga practices like Vinyasa (flow), to Yin (postures held for longer periods of time) to Hatha(slow bodily movement to transition between postures). We use blocks, straps, cushions and even incorporate the wall to develop a creative fun class. From beginners to advance participants are welcome as levels build, challenging and engaging strength, flexibility, mobility and motion of breath.

Flow Yoga

Yoga flow is otherwise known as Vinyasa Yoga, a smooth way of transitioning between poses (held roughly 5 breaths). This contemporary style class encompasses multiple styles from Ashtanga (repeating the samesequences of poses in the same order every time) to Power Yoga ( speed ofpractice increases). Techniques like ladder sequencing (build by adding movement each round of flow) allow participants to become familiar with movement building self-awareness and confidence encouraging different levels and abilities to enhance their practice. Each flow prepares the body for the chosen posture/pose enhancing self progression of own practice. Strength, balance, flexibility and emotional energising are all concepts this practice targets through utilizing the breath enhancing motion, releasing negative energy to feel centred and connected to the mind, body and soul. This is an upbeat fun class and I would recommend some prior practice before attending.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha yoga is generally practiced more slowly and with more static posture holds than found in styles such as Ashtanga or Vinyasa. This practice will typically involve a sequence of asana (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing techniques).

Stretch & Relax

Stretch and relax is a fundamental stretch class using various methods from dancers stretching techniques to Yoga postures to animalflow mobility. This class enhances flexibility, mobility, posture, and strength utilizing the breath to release tension/ stress the body has stored. Using equipment like blocks and straps and the environment, like the wall, enhances and enables everyone to participate at their level. The relax is used through active (working into the stretch with the exhales breath) and passive (holdingmaking no contribution to the range of motion on the inhaled breath) stretching. This class makes you feel amazing but also enhances other types of activity like weights or a specific sport. Everyone can attend this class but note it’s not a yoga focused class its pure stretching.

Rise & Shine Yoga

Using breath work and mindful movement, this class is perfect for feeling grounded, revitalised and invigorated.

This  60 minute class is a great way to start the day and is suitable for all.

Ashtanga Yoga

ASHTANGA YOGA

Ashtanga vinyasa was introduced to the world by Tirumalai Krishnamacharya and further developed by his student K. Pattabhi Jois, it is one of the systems of Hatha yoga that synchronizes breath and movement in a flowing sequence of asanas(postures). The ultimate purpose of the Ashtanga practice is purification of the body and mind.

Benefits Of Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga comes with all the benefits of a regular yoga practice–strength, flexibility, stress management, and inner peace. Because the series is so demanding (and in traditional practice you’re expected to practice most days) you will get really strong really fast. There is no part of the body that doesn’t work hard in this practice.

This practice has a strong sense of purpose and you are forced to focus and grow

 Is Ashtanga Yoga For Me?

Ashtanga yoga is for you if you want a challenge and you love structure. The practice is identical from day to day, and it takes most people years to move up a level. If you have sensitive muscles or joints, this may not be the practice for you. There is a strong emphasis on “getting” each pose, even if your body is not necessarily ready to move there in a graceful way.
